Police were investigating several reports of gunfire late Friday night in which at least one person had been shot.
Emergency dispatchers received a call between 11:30 and 11:45 p.m. for a report that someone had been shot near the intersection of Wallace Avenue and Coal Street, a supervisor said. They later dispatched units to nearby Hill Street and other locations. Investigators told dispatch they initially thought the calls were related.
The dispatch supervisor was able to confirm that at least one person had been shot. That person's condition was not immediately available. Police called for three medic units, but it was not clear whether each was needed.
Allegheny County homicide detectives were expected to help with the investigation.
