The Westmoreland County Coroner's Office ruled today that a woman and her son whose bodies were found in their home Thursday night were beaten to death.
Bonnie Lee Broadwater, 46, and Lance Holt, 24, were found dead in their home in the tiny community of Arnold at around 11:20 p.m. Thursday after a friend called 911 because he had not seen them in a number of days, said Arnold police Chief William Weber. A police officer peeking through the front window caught sight of Ms. Broadwater lying on the floor and broke down the front door. Mr. Holt's body was found nearby.
Both had begun to decompose, so police had little immediate indication as to how they died, though they have been investigating the deaths as homicides. Chief Weber said there were signs of struggle in the home, but the doors were locked and there were no signs of a break-in. Today, he said their work has yet to yield a suspect.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Arnold police at 724-339-9663.
