The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission has granted Yellow Cab of Pittsburgh an emergency tariff increase of $1 on each departure from Pittsburgh International Airport, effective Monday.

In a statement Thursday, Jamie Campolongo, president of the parent company of Yellow Cab, said the surcharge was needed because of an unexpected increase in charges by the Allegheny County Airport Authority in May.

The PUC noted in its order that all of the additional revenue will go to the airport authority.
