Police are searching for the suspect who shot a woman in Market Square on Saturday during a crowded Light Up Night event.

A Pittsburgh police officer confirmed that the woman was shot in the buttocks sometime after 9 p.m. Saturday.

The woman was taken to a local hospital around 9:30.

Witnesses who were dining at My Big Fat Greek Gyro restaurant said they heard "a loud pop from outside" stepped out briefly and saw a woman on the ground grabbing her rear area.

They said crowds tried to rush inside of nearby businesses once they realized the shooting happened.

There was no word on suspects. Representatives from the Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership had no comment regarding the incident.
