Lena Davenport, 49, of Wilkinsburg, a front passenger in a vehicle pursued by police on Jan. 13, filed the lawsuit in federal court on Friday against the borough of Homestead, the city of Pittsburgh, two Homestead officers, and four Pittsburgh officers.
Ms. Davenport's son, Donald Burris Jr., was driving the vehicle when they were shot on East Carson Street in the South Side.
Officials have said the Pittsburgh officers fired several shots at the car while working an overtime detail at bars in the South Side.
