Today marks one year since the shooting at Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic of UPMC in Oakland.

John Shick entered Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic in Oakland shortly before 2 p.m. on March 8, 2012, armed with two semiautomatic handguns and started firing.

He injured seven people and killed Michael Schaab, 25, a therapist who worked with elderly patients.

Shick was subsequently killed in the ensuing gun battle with police.

The shooting and its aftermath consumed the city for several days; in the first few hours, people frantically tried to locate friends and loved ones in Oakland.

And, there is still very little known about shooter John Shick.
