The jury in the federal trial of Dr. Cyril H. Wecht adjourned yesterday -- its 10th day of deliberations -- after meeting for less than four hours.

Jurors have been meeting for 51/2 hours a day. Yesterday they went from 8 a.m. to 11:55 a.m. No explanation was given for their abbreviated day.

Also yesterday, the judge presiding in the case of the former Allegheny County coroner denied the defense's request for a mistrial.

Dr. Wecht is charged with wire fraud, mail fraud and theft from an organization receiving federal funds.

Jurors are due back today at 8 a.m.
