A water-line improvement project in Shadyside will cause a disruption in water service Friday.

The Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority will connect a new 8-inch main to an existing 6-inch main at the intersection of Holden Street and Maryland Avenue.

The work will take place from 8 a.m. to noon. During that time, customers on Maryland between Holden and Elmer Street and those on Holden between Summerlea Street and College Avenue will have no service.

Customers are being notified by phone and through messages left on their doors.
