Crash of Port Authority van in Pittsburgh injures 11

A van involved in a crash this morning that left 11 people with minor injuries was a training vehicle for the Port Authority, an agency spokesman said.
The crash involved three vehicles and happened about 10:30 a.m. in the 800 block of Freeport Road, near UPMC St. Margaret.
The van was being used to help Port Authority drivers learn new and tweaked routes and was stopped at a red light when another vehicle struck it from behind, Port Authority spokesman Jim Ritchie said. The van bumped into the car in front of it in a chain-reaction.
An emergency dispatch supervisor said 11 people were transported to St. Margaret, UPMC Shadyside, Allegheny General Hospital and UPMC Presbyterian for minor injuries.
Most people complained of neck pain and whiplash, the supervisor said.
