A Bridgeville man was charged with attempted homicide after police said he stabbed two men near the Road Runners Cafe on Saw Mill Run Boulevard in Overbrook.
Andrew Miller, 53, remained in the Allegheny County Jail tonight on $100,000 bail. He has also been charged with aggravated assault.
Pittsburgh police wrote in a criminal complaint that they were called to the intersection of Saw Mill Run and Overbrook boulevards about 1:45 a.m. for a report that a man had been stabbed. When they arrived, a man named Robert Miller told them that Andrew Miller had been "bothering" some people at the bar.
Robert Miller told police Andrew Miller bought a six-pack of beer, confronted him with "some kind of intensity" and eventually "swung at his throat with what he thought was a closed fist but realized was a knife after he began to bleed," police wrote in the complaint.
Robert Miller and some other witnesses told police Andrew Miller also stabbed a man named Richard Heh, whom medics estimated would need at least 20 stitches, according to the complaint.
Police said they took Andrew Miller, who had blood on his face and who appeared to be drunk, to UPMC Mercy for a medical evaluation and then transported him to the jail.
Court paperwork did not say how Andrew Miller knew the men he is accused of stabbing.
