Three taken to Allegheny General after Brighton Heights crash

Three people were injured when a car hit a utility pole early this morning in Pittsburgh's Brighton Heights neighborhood, police said.

The driver of the car was trapped inside the vehicle and the roof had to be cut off to get him out, police said. The man had possible hip fractures among other injuries, police said.

Two passengers who were in the car also had minor leg injuries.

All three were taken to Allegheny General Hospital for treatment soon after 1:30 a.m.

The pole they struck was on the corner of Marshall Street and Atkins Street near Benton Avenue.
