Thomas Merton Center sponsors talk tonight

The Thomas Merton Center, a local activist group concerned with peace, social justice and the environment, will kick off its 40th anniversary celebration tonight with a talk on the life and witness of the Trappist monk Thomas Merton.
The speaker tonight at 7 p.m. in East Liberty Presbyterian Church will be the Rev. Art McDonald, a Unitarian pastor who formerly served in Pittsburgh and is a past organizer for The Thomas Merton Center. His topic will be "A Prophet in the Monastery: Why Thomas Merton's Radical Social Vision Still Inspires."
