Starting today, The Digs, the blog of historical Pittsburgh images from the Post-Gazette library, will go deeper by offering readers more photographs, more information with each post and additional content, such as reproductions of newspaper pages.

The blog also will allow readers to add their comments and memories.

New posts will appear online on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. You can visit The Digs at pgdigs.tumblr.com.

The goal of the redesigned Digs is to tell an even richer history of Pittsburgh and the region through pictures of people, communities and historic events.
