A 19-year-old man was arrested after an early morning police chase that ended in a crash in Downtown Pittsburgh.
Michael Pham will be arraigned today on a felony charge of fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer; a misdemeanor charge of criminal mischief; several misdemeanor charges of reckless endangerment and several summary traffic violations.
A supervisor in the city's Zone 3 station said the chase began after Mr. Pham was pulled over at South First and East Carson streets, near the entrance to Station Square, for a traffic violation shortly before 2:30 a.m.
Mr. Pham fled, and police gave chase, following him across the Smithfield Street Bridge, before Mr. Pham crashed his Jeep SUV at Liberty Avenue and Grant Street, the supervisor said.
Mr. Pham was treated at a local hospital and released, the supervisor said. He awaits a preliminary hearing scheduled for Jan. 17, according to online court records. He remains in the Allegheny County Jail.
