Surveillance video released of Hempfield stabbing suspect

State police in Greensburg searching for a man suspected of stabbing and robbing another man in late March have released surveillance video of him.
Trooper Stephen Limani described the suspect as a "distance acquaintance" of the victim and his friend and said neither man knew the robber's name.
The victim's friend picked up the suspect from the Pittsburgh area late the night of March 25 and drove him to the victim's house in the Fort Allen area of Hempfield for a party. At some point, the suspect pulled a knife and stabbed the victim repeatedly in the neck an back.
He forced the victim and his friend into the victim's car and forced the friend to drive the three of them to the a bank on Pittsburgh's South Side.
In the backseat, bleeding profusely from his wounds, the victim pressed paper towels into the gashes in an attempt to stop the bleeding. On the South Side, the suspect used the victim's ATM card to withdraw $300 and ran away.
The victim's friend then drove him to UPMC Presbyterian, where he received multiple sets of staples and stitches to treat the knife wounds and received a blood transfusion.
Trooper Limani described the man's wounds as "gruesome."
"He could have died," Trooper Limani said.
State police ask anyone with information about the stabbing to call 724-832-3288.
