Still no verdict in Wecht trial

The jury in the federal fraud trial of Dr. Cyril H. Wecht recessed for a four-day weekend without reaching a verdict.
At 1:45 p.m. yesterday, U.S. District Court Judge Arthur J. Schwab released the jury after issuing standard cautions to not discuss the case or read news accounts.
Judge Schwab typically attends to other matters on Fridays, which has been the case since the trial began Jan. 28, and he previously granted Monday off at the jury's request to accommodate Easter travel plans.
Dr. Wecht, who turned 77 yesterday, is charged with 41 counts of wire fraud, mail fraud and theft from an organization receiving federal funds.
The jury has deliberated for three days following 22 days of testimony and will return Tuesday morning to resume.
