"Honest Abe" will join state Sen. Jim Ferlo in the lobby of the City-County Building at 11 a.m. tomorrow to kick off the "Give A Lincoln for Lincoln" campaign.
The fundraising event Downtown is part of a national effort to benefit six historic sites linked to Abraham Lincoln, and it will occur on the 200th anniversary of Lincoln's birth on Feb. 12, 1809.
The year-long campaign will encourage Americans to donate pennies and $5 bills -- both of which feature Lincoln's image -- to raise funds for programs at important places in the life of the 16th president.
Mr. Ferlo, D-Highland Park, and Pittsburgh Mayor Luke Ravenstahl will speak. A bearded re-enactor will talk about Lincoln's 1861 visit to Pittsburgh.
Those interested can get additional information at www.senatorferlo.com, or by calling 412-621-3006.
