Another weekend of road work will pose the possibility of significant delays on heavily traveled roads.

The northbound Portal Bridge in Point State Park that takes traffic from the Fort Pitt Bridge and the Parkway East to the Fort Duquesne Bridge will be closed for milling and patching from 10 p.m. Friday through 5 a.m. Monday.

The recommended detour is to use the West End Bypass and West End Bridge, or to exit at the Boulevard of the Allies and turn left at Stanwix Street and Fort Duquesne Boulevard to reach the Fort Duquesne Bridge.

Also closed for the same time period will be the Fort Pitt Boulevard ramp to the Fort Duquesne Bridge; the ramp from Commonwealth Place to the Fort Duquesne Bridge; and the ramps from the Fort Pitt Bridge and Parkway East to Fort Duquesne Boulevard and the 10th Street Bypass.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation is urging drivers to find alternate routes.

Another weekend closure is planned for the westbound Parkway East in the area between Grant and Stanwix streets, also known as the "bathtub." The road will be closed from 9 p.m. Friday through about noon Saturday, as will the ramp from Grant Street to the westbound parkway.

Banksville Road will have single-lane traffic with the passing lanes closed in both directions from 8 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Monday from the Parkway West and Carnahan Road-Wenzell Avenue as milling and paving continues.
