Sheraden man guilty in homicide of friend

A Sheraden man was convicted Thursday of first-degree murder and a firearms violation in a 2011 shooting death that police said stemmed from a brawl over money.
Police said Antonio Stamps, 26, shot Andrew Smith, 20, in the face on Crucible Street on May 11, 2011. Mr. Smith was taken to UPMC Mercy, where he died less than a month later.
Mr. Stamps' on-and-off girlfriend, Ebony Cutler, testified at a preliminary hearing that she heard the two men arguing over money on the day of the shooting. She said the two were friends and that Mr. Stamps owed Mr. Smith money because Mr. Stamps had bailed him out of jail.
Ms. Cutler testified that she watched Mr. Stamps ride to Crucible Street in an SUV, get out of the passenger seat, confront Mr. Smith and shoot him in the face.
A sentencing date for Mr. Stamps has not yet been set, according to the Allegheny County district attorney's office.
