Romney surrogates make case against Obama in Oakland speeches

A few hours before President Barack Obama traveled to Pittsburgh to make the case for why he should be re-elected, one current and one former Republican governor came here to make the case for why he shouldn't be.
Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal and former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty spoke this morning at Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hall & Museum in Oakland to a crowd of about 200 supporters of Mitt Romney, the Republican presidential nominee and a former governor of Massachusetts.
Mr. Pawlenty and Mr. Jindal spent most of their speeches criticizing what they described as a failed Obama presidency, speaking specifically about continued high unemployment, the deficit and calling for a repeal of Mr. Obama's health care legislation.
"We should all bet on America," Mr. Pawlenty said. "... But we should not double down on Barack Obama. His presidency is a losing hand for America."
Mr. Jindal and Mr. Pawlenty, both thought to be possible vice presidential picks, are on a bus tour through Ohio and Pennsylvania.
Their "Middle Class Promise Gap Bus Tour" seeks to counter Mr. Obama's "betting on America Bus Tour."
"We simply cannot afford another four more years of President Obama," Mr. Jindal said.
Mr. Obama is speaking at Carnegie Mellon University at 2 p.m.
