Seven men and a juvenile were arrested Thursday when parole officers, supported by Pittsburgh police, staged probation-and-parole checks in 50 Hill District homes.
State and county parole officers requested police assistance in the sweeps, according to a police bureau press release.
The men were wanted on drug, firearm and trespassing warrants. A juvenile also was arrested "after surveillance," according to the release.
The adults arrested were Anthony Jefferson, 19; Victor Harris, 21; Robert Butler, 25; Quinton Bailey, 25, all from the Hill District; Rodney McDonald, 24, of East Liberty; Eugene Blue, 40; and Brandon Murphy, whose age and location were not provided.
The Pittsburgh Initiative to Reduce Crime, a city program targeting gang members, sought responses from Hill District residents on the increased police presence and anti-gang efforts.
