The Young Preservationists Association is holding its annual Preserve Pittsburgh Summit Saturday at the Frick Fine Arts Building in Oakland. The 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. event, which includes a bus tour of Hazelwood, is followed by an awards reception from 6 to 7 p.m.

The public can attend the events by registering in advance at www.youngpreservationists.org or calling 412-512-8885. For a seat on the tour, you must register in advance.

Day tickets are $15 per person, $10 for YPA members and free to students. The reception is $25 per person, $15 for YPA members and $10 for students. To attend both events is $30.

The Hazelwood tour will include stops at the original Carnegie Library, the John Woods house, Gladstone School and the Spahr Building. Dan Holland, founder of the YPA, said this year's focus on one neighborhood will pack a punch for Hazelwood, a neighborhood of historically significant sites and a riverfront of potential.

The reception will honor winners of a video competition and the Michael Eversmeyer Promise Award, named for the late architect and longtime champion of preservation from Highland Park. The keynote speaker is Kate Burns Ottavino, who started the first high school preservation program in the country, at the Brooklyn High School of the Arts in Brooklyn, N.Y.
