Possibility of flooding closes Mon Wharf to parking today

The Mon Wharf is closed today because of possible flooding, the Pittsburgh Parking Authority announced.

A flood advisory for the Ohio River at Pittsburgh has been issued by the National Weather Service. The advisory also covers the lower Monongahela, which flows into the Ohio River at the Point. Flood stage is 25.0 feet, but water begins to flow onto the Mon Wharf at 18 feet.

The river stage at 3 a.m. today was 17.0 feet. It is expected to rise to 18.2 feet later today.
