Port Authority buying more bike racks for buses

The Port Authority is purchasing an additional 160 bicycle racks at a cost of $91,752 to mount on the front of buses over the next year.
The authority currently has bike racks on 424 buses, or approximately half of its fleet. The number of routes offering the racks will be expanded when the new racks arrive.
The authority is paying just more than 3 percent of the cost. The federal government is paying 80 percent and the state 16 2/3 percent.
