Pittsburgh police are searching for the former owners of pets whose cremated remains were found in an abandoned mortuary in Hazelwood on Friday.
In all, 59 sets of pet remains were recovered at the Mark A. Sauvageot Funeral Home, where police also found 19 sets of cremated human remains after executing a search warrant Friday morning.
Some of the sets of cremated pet remains were labeled with varying levels of information and six have been returned to their owners. Some of the owners contacted told police that they had already received remains that apparently were not of their deceased pets.
Detective Bobby Shaw said police are still trying to track down the owners of the following pets: Zena, Lady Ashley of Glendale, Ranger, Sam, Tori, Zeus, Max, Charlie, Sam, Kirby, Sexy, Cynder, Bonnie, Jonah, Shug Knight, Goliath, Precious, Christopher, Lee, Barney, Frisky, Ben, Root Beer, Cleo, Twiggy and Flinn.
The owners of the deceased pets are asked to call city homicide at 412-323-7161 and ask for Detective Shaw.
