Police search for driver who hit man in Squirrel Hill

Pittsburgh police on Tuesday were searching for a driver who struck a 68-year-old man in Squirrel Hill Tuesday morning and left.

The pedestrian was in critical condition after the accident, which happened just before 9:30 a.m. at Wightman Street and Wilkins Avenue.

Witnesses said he was crossing the street when a red or maroon car hit him and knocked him to the curb. The vehicle then sped up Wightman toward Fair Oaks Street.
