Pittsburgh homicide detectives are investigating after a man was found shot to death in some bushes in Homewood this morning.
The Allegheny County medical examiner's office identified the man as Maurice Bruce, 32, who had been known to live in Munhall and Swissvale.
A passerby spotted Mr. Bruce's body near the corner of Hamilton Avenue and Sterrett Street at 7:28 a.m. and he was pronounced dead there 10 minutes later, according to the medical examiner's office.
An autopsy will be performed Tuesday.
Police said it appeared as though Mr. Bruce had been there for a few hours, making it difficult for them to find witnesses. They are investigating whether his death might be connected to a nearby shooting that happened about 2 a.m., when a woman was shot in the leg and taken to a local hospital. She was in stable condition tonight.
Online court records show that Mr. Bruce pleaded guilty to aggravated assault in two separate incidents from 2000 and another from 2001. Details of those cases were not immediately available.
