Point Park University says it will offer a tuition discount this fall to current and incoming students pursuing master's degrees and certificates through the school's education department.

The move comes at a time when changes in state policy have lessened resources and incentives for teachers to pursue graduate degrees and certifications, Point Park spokeswoman Terra McBride said.

The university said the discounted tuition cost per credit will be $520, which means tuition for a three-credit class will be $1,560. The discount for the master's degree programs is about 34 percent, the school said in announcing the reduction.

"Overall, enrollments in our graduate education programs are flat, and we would like to grow programs with teachers, or those who are seeking to become teachers, who would benefit from these educational opportunities," Ms. McBride said.
