Pittsburgh Public Schools to auction painting at Sotheby's

An oil painting owned by Pittsburgh Public Schools will be auctioned by Sotheby's in New York on May 8.

The painting is called "Interior" and is by Henri Le Sidaner.

The painting is among those donated to the district by the Friends of Art. Proceeds will be used to care the the rest of the collection donated by the friends.

The painting was purchased from the 1933 International.

Sotheby's is waiving its selling costs. The painting has been put in storage and insured.

The board voted on the plan tonight.
