A 17-year-old boy was recovering in UPMC Mercy tonight after he was shot in the Mount Oliver section of the city.
When police arrived in the 400 block of Ormsby Street about 7:40 p.m., they found the Mount Oliver teenager with gunshot wounds to the shoulder, cheek and foot. The boy was able to speak but told officers he could not identify the person or people who shot him.
Witnesses told police they heard between six and 10 gunshots and saw a van crash near the shooting scene. Two men hopped out of the car and ran away. When officers approached the empty car, they saw a large amount of heroin in plain sight, police said.
Police said the injured boy, whose name has not been released, was listed in stable condition tonight.
It was not clear from police reports whether the injured boy had been inside the car that crashed.
