A Pittsburgh police bomb squad went to Shadyside for the second time this week to investigate the discovery of a suspicious package.

Near College and Ellsworth avenues, police found what turned out to be wires tied to a small weight scale and left in a bag.

Police also investigated a suspicious package Downtown in the 200 block of Fifth Avenue. Bomb technicians determined that the package was not an explosive and cleared the scene.

Bomb squad officers went to Shadyside on Tuesday as well.

In that case, police shut down the street between Spahr Street and Maryland Avenue for nearly three hours while a bomb technician and a robot investigated the backpack-like item that was sitting on a bench.

Police were not immediately sure whether the cases are linked.
