Pitt and law professor resolve age bias lawsuit

A lawsuit filed by a former University of Pittsburgh law professor, claiming the Pitt law school discriminated against him because of his age, has been resolved, according to a stipulation filed in U.S. District Court today.
William J. Brown of Squirrel Hill claimed in his lawsuit filed in March that he left Pitt for Duquesne University, then returned to Pitt, only to find his path from adjunct to tenure thwarted because he was 73. The Pitt law school, according to the complaint, was trying to lower the median age of its faculty.
The stipulation of dismissal filed in the case is usually an indication of a settlement. Attorneys for Pitt and for Mr. Brown could not be reached for comment.
