The Pittsburgh officer shot in his left leg Sunday morning in East Liberty is being discharged from the hospital, police said.

Officer Christopher Kertis will be placed on paid administrative leave, police spokeswoman Diane Richard said.

Dante A. Bonner, 18, fired three rounds at Officer Kertis after a vehicle and foot pursuit, police said, and officers returned multiple shots hitting the man.

Mr. Bonner remains hospitalized and is listed in critical but stable condition, Ms. Richard said.

He has been charged with a felony count each of attempted homicide, assault of a police officer, carrying a firearm without a license and receiving stolen property, as well as a misdemeanor count of recklessly endangering another person.

His gun was reported stolen from a car in Somerset in December, police said.
