Applications are now available for the spring round of Love Your Block grants. Local nonprofit organizations have until Feb. 14 to apply.

The block revitalization program gives up to 30 organizations $1,000 to purchase supplies and equipment necessary to implement a neighborhood block improvement project with community volunteers.

Love Your Block is a service initiative of Mayor Luke Ravenstahl, who said organizations from all 90 neighborhoods should consider applying. Special consideration will be given to projects that engage local veterans and veterans' organizations.

This year's fall round of grantees affected 49 blocks by collecting 6,676 pounds of litter, creating 99 green spaces, leveraging more than $14,000 in donations and recruiting more than 700 volunteers.
