Most commuters will not be allowed to park in North Shore garages and lots on Thursday because the Pirates have a 4:05 p.m. game scheduled against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Only those holding monthly leases will be admitted to the garages, said Merrill Stabile, president of Alco Parking.

Mr. Stabile and Pirates spokesman Brian Warecki said they don't anticipate a repeat of the July 25 snarls that occurred before and during a Pirates-Cubs game that started at 12:35 p.m. It took some fans nearly two hours to find spaces that day.

Mr. Stabile said Downtown parking will be more plentiful because of workers leaving early and suggested that fans consider parking Downtown and using the free T service to the North Shore.

Mr. Warecki said a smaller crowd is expected for Thursday's game. The July 25 game set a PNC Park record for attendance at a weekday afternoon game.
