Pittsburgh NAACP elects new president

Constance Parker was elected president of the Pittsburgh branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People tonight.
Ms. Parker served as first vice president to outgoing president M. Gayle Moss, who led for eight years, but did not seek re-election. Ms. Moss was initially elected in 2004 as the first female president in the chapter's history.
Ms. Parker, who declined to comment, won with 171 votes and Deborah Walker trailed her by 26 votes.
Charlene McAbee was elected first vice president. Anita Walker, secretary, and Morton Stanfield Jr., treasurer, ran uncontested.
Members of the branch also voted for an executive committee.
