A mudslide has closed Woodruff Street from Merrimac Street to Saw Mill Run Boulevard, an emergency dispatch supervisor said.

The Wabash Tunnel, which connects the South Side to Route 51, is also closed, the supervisor said.

City police advised keeping the tunnel closed for up to 15 hours -- through morning or mid-day Friday, Port Authority spokesman Jim Ritchie said.

The Wabash Tunnel's inbound traffic lanes have been closed since Oct. 22, when a crash damaged the tunnel's gate system, he noted.
