An 80-year-old man whose car crashed Friday into a metal pole at Gateway Center died of multiple blunt force trauma, according to an autopsy Saturday by the Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office, which ruled the death an accident.
The autopsy results did not indicate whether Donald Fox, whose neighborhood was not identified, had any medical emergency while driving on an off-ramp toward Stanwix Street, a possibility raised by police after the late-morning crash. The impact crash demolished the silver sedan.
No additional information was immediately available from Zone 2 police, and the Pittsburgh Police accident investigations unit could not immediately be reached today.
