Mayoral candidates to debate Sunday at Obama Academy

The Obama Academy's youth and government chapter will host a mayoral debate among six Democratic candidates at 1:30 p.m. Sunday.
The debate will focus on youth, young adult and family issues.
The event will be held at the Obama Academy (formerly Peabody High School) at 515 N. Highland Ave. in East Liberty. Doors open at 1 p.m.
City council President Darlene Harris; city Controller Michael Lamb; city Councilman Bill Peduto; A.J. Richardson, a school bus monitor; former state Auditor General Jack Wagner; and state Rep. Jake Wheatley, D-Hill District, will attend.
Sen. Jim Ferlo, D-Highland Park, who has filed nominating papers, declined an invitation.
The Democratic primary election will be held May 21.
