Marijuana grow lab found in Greenfield

Pittsburgh police responding to a report of a home invasion in Greenfield Monday night said they stumbled upon a large marijuana grow lab.
Joshua Clary and Elizabeth Benson, both 34, were taken to the Allegheny County Jail after police said they found the drug in Mr. Clary's home and in Ms. Benson's truck.
Police were called to 725 Graphic St. shortly before 5 p.m. after Mr. Clary reported that someone was trying to break into his home.
Officers went in with their guns up and found Mr. Clary holding a firearm, Officer Frank Rosato said. He said Mr. Clary dropped his weapon on command and told officers he had been smoking for most of the day.
When police searched the home, they found eight to nine pounds of marijuana, much of it in the basement, Officer Rosato said. The marijuana is worth an estimated $8,000 on the street.
Around that time, Mr. Clary's girlfriend, Ms. Benson, pulled up at the home in a Ford F-150 pickup truck, her 5-year-old son in sitting in a passenger sear. Officer Rosato said officers thought they smelled marijuana and found close to $100 worth of the drug in her truck.
Allegheny County Children, Youth and Families took custody of the child. His mother and her boyfriend were taken to jail.
