A 23-year-old Homewood man was shot in a carjacking in the East Hills Monday afternoon.
Major Crimes Lieutenant Dan Herrmann said the man was at a stop sign on Wilner Drive and Bracey Drive when two men walked across the street and jumped into his car, a 1994 white Chevy Impala, around 1:45 p.m.
One man went to the front seat and the other got into the back seat. With guns drawn they demanded money and when he said he didn't have any, they shot him in the abdomen as another bullet grazed his head.
The victim got out of the car, dropping his cell phone and his wallet, as the men drove off in his car. The victim then tried to walk to a relative's house for help, and neighbors who saw him called 911.
Medics took him to UPMC Presbyterian, where he was able to speak to police.
No suspects have been identified and police are searching for the Impala with a license plate number HXN3132.
