A Baldwin Borough man faces charges of aggravated assault and reckless endangerment after a shooting early Sunday outside a South Side bar.

Pittsburgh police reports said George J. Morgan, 27, was trying to shoot Town Tavern bouncer Julian Pinkston, but missed, wounding three bystanders instead.

A male bystander had a bullet lodged in his thigh; two female bystanders suffered leg wounds. None of the injuries appeared to be serious.

According to an affidavit, Mr. Morgan and a friend, Matthew Emery, were told to leave the bar about 2 a.m. Sunday, then got into a fight with Mr. Pinkston outside the bar. Witnesses told police that Mr. Morgan stepped back from the scuffle, pulled out a handgun, fired at Mr. Pinkston, then fled the scene.

Police responding to the sound of the gunshots chased Mr. Morgan down and later recovered a handgun they think he had tossed away. Police reported hearing three to four shots; witnesses described two or three shots.

Police said Mr. Morgan and Mr. Emery both said that Mr. Pinkston started the fight and that the shooting was in defense of Mr. Emery.
