Pittsburgh police are investigating after a man was stabbed in the Hill District tonight.

An emergency dispatch supervisor said the man was stabbed in the 2700 block of Barnett Way shortly before 4 p.m. Initial reports indicated that the man was in critical condition and police later learned he was expected to survive.

Police said the confrontation began when the man began to beat his girlfriend, whose grandmother then stabbed him. Zone 2 police said they expect to file charges against both the man and the grandmother, neither of whose names they were releasing tonight.
