A Wilmerding man was arrested Friday on charges that he shot at two Pittsburgh police officers who were responding to a report that he had shot another man.

Monte Blair, 39, faces charges of attempted homicide, aggravated assault, assaulting a law enforcement officer and a firearms violation.

Lt. Kevin Kraus said in a news release that officers from the city's Zone 5 station in Highland Park were called to the intersection of Zenith and Fleury ways in Homewood for a shooting on Sept. 9.

When they arrived, Mr. Blair fired from his car at officers and drove away, the lieutenant said. He said Zone 5 officers fired back at Mr. Blair.

When police arrested him Friday afternoon in the 1000 block of Brushton Avenue in Homewood Investigators, they noticed he had several gunshot wounds. Homicide detectives and the SWAT team assisted Zone 5 officers with the arrest.
