A Sewickley man was charged late Saturday night in connection with a high-speed chase that ended on Route 65, known as Ohio River Boulevard.

Gregory W. Omlor, 23, faces charges of aggravated assault, resisting arrest, driving while drunk, fleeing police, and traffic violations.

State police at Findlay, which patrols the region's interstate highways, said Mr. Omlor was fleeing police from the city of Pittsburgh when he crashed his vehicle along Route 65 south of the intersection with Interstate 279.

A news release from the state police noted that Mr. Omlor attempted to assault Trooper Andrew Reith at the accident scene. Then, after Mr. Omlor was taken to Allegheny General Hospital, North Side, he attempted to assault two Pittsburgh police officers identified in the state police news release as Daniel G. Stangrecki and Mark Pisano, both of the "Zone 1" departments.

No other details were available but the news release did not indicate that any of the officers actually were injured.

The incident occurred at 11:30 p.m.
