Man charged in PNC Park, jail bomb threats

A Hill District man has been charged criminally for calling in bomb threats to the Allegheny County Jail and PNC Park, according to court documents unsealed Friday.
Termaine Washington, 22, began his series of threatening calls on Sept. 7, according to an affidavit by Pittsburgh Detective Carla Kearns. From then through September 19, he used a stolen cell phone to repeatedly urge evacuations of the jail, the ballpark and an unspecified T station, occasionally demanding the release of a friend from jail and saying he would blow up the buildings, it said.
Police found the rightful owner of the phone, who pointed them toward Mr. Washington, the affidavit said. His voice matched recordings of the threat calls made to the county's 911 center. He now faces a charge of willfully making threats to destroy any building by means of fire or an explosive.
U.S. Attorney David Hickton's office is prosecuting Mr. Washington, who made his initial court appearance Friday and was detained.
Under the name Termaine Green, Mr. Washington has faced multiple criminal charges and has been convicted of simple assault, robbery, theft and disorderly conduct.
