A 32-year-old man has been arrested on charges stemming from a December burglary at the West End Athletic Association.

Phillip Dillard was arrested Wednesday after police searched a residence in the 1200 block of Arnold Street and found items -- a bull horn and bags of sport socks and Elliot Soccer hoodies -- they believe he stole last year from the athletic center, according to a news release from city police spokeswoman Diane Richard.

Detectives had obtained the warrant after receiving a tip that the items were at the residence, police said.

Mr. Dillard was transported from there to police headquarters and took "full and sole responsibility" for the burglary, according to the release. During the search, he made statements about his involvement with the burglary, police said.

Police believe that sometime between Dec. 1 and Dec. 4, Mr. Dillard forced his way in through the side door of the athletic center at 801 Herschel St., where police said he stole an estimated $7,000 in items -- including a pizza oven, sporting equipment, a nacho machine and dozens of hooded sweatshirts.

Mr. Dillard remains in the Allegheny County Jail on $25,000 bond.
