The Allegheny County Sheriff's Office has arrested two men in the last 24 hours for stealing at the Allegheny County Courthouse.
Seth Jelic, 32, of Mars, was apprehended on a Butler County bench warrant today. While in custody, deputies realized he matched a dispatcher's description of a man suspected of stealing a cell phone at the courthouse. Mr. Jelic's belongings were searched and deputies found the cell phone.
He was transported to Allegheny County Jail and is expected to be arraigned on a charge of receiving stolen property. After his sentence is complete he will be extradited to Butler County on his outstanding warrant charge.
Deputies also arrested Jeremiah Barsczewski, 26, Monday for lying to a guard and claiming $600 left at the courthouse metal detector was his on Jan. 18.
After handing Mr. Barsczewski the money, authorities learned it had actually been accidentally left behind by a person who intended to use it to pay child support. Sheriff's deputies reviewed video footage and court records and identified Mr Barsczewski as the suspect Monday. He was apprehended that same day.

He was arraigned this morning on charges of theft by unlawful taking, theft by deception, theft of property lost and mislaid or delivered by mistake. Mr. Barsczewski was taken to Allegheny County Jail.
About a half-hour after the envelope was left at the metal detector, Mr. Barsczewski approached the guard and said the money was his, authorities said. Authorities believe Mr. Barsczewski had appeared in court that day, according to an earlier press release.
The guard gave him the money.
A few hours later, another person, who authorities said is the true owner of the money, came forward after accidentally leaving the child support money at the metal detector.
