City of Pittsburgh officials including Mayor Luke Ravenstahl will cut a ribbon to reopen Lower McArdle Roadway on the South Side on Wednesday, marking completion of a delayed $10 million bridge rehabilitation project.

Work began in January 2011. City officials had hoped to complete the project by the end of last year but freight train traffic below the deteriorated span caused delays and added $3 million to the cost.

The road is a key link between Mount Washington and the South Side. The reopening ceremony is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
