Lottery to determine Pittsburgh city park shelter availability

If you're interested in having a picnic under one of the Pittsburgh city park shelters this summer, you'll need more than just a basket.

The city will lottery off its Annual Shelter Permit Day on Saturday, March 23, to lucky city residents interested in reserving shelters from May 1 to September 30 in any of the 26 city parks. The lottery will occur in the lobby of the City-County Building at 414 Grant Street and numbers will be distributed at 7:15 a.m. Winners will be called at 8:30 a.m.

Applicants must be 21 or over, provide proof of residency and bring cash, money order or certified check to make payments on the permits.
